Every year, thousands of students from around the world apply to study in Canada. International students often need Visas to enter the country because Canada does not have a Visa exemption agreement with all nations. A study permit is usually an essential document for international students who wish to complete studies in Canada, which can be obtained through a Canadian Visa Office outside of Canada and depends on the status of your country of origin.

International students generally need to obtain a study permit to pursue an education in Canada (some exceptions apply). There are certain conditions that the student needs to fulfill before applying for a study authorization. One of these conditions is an invitation sent by Canadian officials asking if they have accepted the offer for admission by a private or public post-secondary institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees.

To be eligible to apply for a study permit, a student need:

• Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada
• Sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses
• Be in good health and have no criminal background
• Satisfy a Visa officer that he/she will leave Canada upon expiry of a study permit
