Atlantic Immigration Pilot

The pilot, launched in 2017, helps employers in Atlantic Canada hire skilled foreign workers who want to immigrate to Atlantic Canada and International graduates who wish to stay in Atlantic Canada after they graduate.

Due to its success, the government has committed to making this pilot a permanent program.

It will continue to be a flagship regional economic immigration program, complementing the provincial nominee programs in each Atlantic province.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot helps companies hire candidates who aren’t from Canada, but want to take on jobs that they couldn’t find a qualified Canadian citizen or permanent resident to take.

It helps connect you with skilled foreign workers who can help you to acquire the necessary skills for your business growth.

There are 3 programs you can use to hire someone:

• Atlantic International Graduate Program
• Atlantic High-skilled Program
• Atlantic Intermediate-skilled Program

Every job comes with its own set of requirements for candidates to be eligible.  Before you present candidates with a job offer, you must be designated by the provincial government associated with the province that the candidate will be working with.  Once you have made an offer, you may then move onward with several steps including ensuring that your organization helps the candidate meet all the posted requirements before finally obtaining permanent resident status within Canada.

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates for permanent residency will need to include specific documents with their application when it is time to enjoy the fruits of their labour. A job offer from you will likely help them move quicker in obtaining these documents since each one will have requirements that pertain to your case in particular.

• Results of a language test showing they can communicate in English or French
• An Educational Credential Assessment report, which shows how their education compares to a Canadian one
• Proof of work experience (except for international graduates)
• Proof that they have enough money to support themselves and their family
